All about Coteford
The Building
Coteford Infant School moved into an adapted building in 1983 so that children with physical disabilities could be educated alongside able-bodied children. All classrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard and children have access to the latest technology as well as traditional resources. The hall has been extended and is used for PE, assemblies, concerts and lunches. We have worked hard to develop a playground where children can play and have fun safely and now have the following special areas; Inclusive Play Area, Happy Hills, the Magical Theatre, a games court, a climbing frame, an inside learning/play area and a track. We also have a field, conservation area and butterfly garden. The site is safe and secure and for entry during the day visitors and parents must press the “buzzer” on the entry keypad in order to be admitted.
We share our site with 4 Street Nursery (a private day nursery) and Coteford Children’s Centre.
Nursery
Although part of the school, the nursery is situated in a self-contained classroom with its own safe outside play area, which includes a large covered area. There is a combination of full and part time places that mean there are 35 children attending each morning or afternoon session. There is a minimum of 3 members of staff in each session and usually more depending on the needs of children. Please click here for information about our 30 hour provision.
Reception
There are 2 reception classes and all have access to a safe reception outside play area, also with a large covered area, so that children can learn indoors and outside. Each class has a qualified teacher and part time assistant as a minimum, although often there are more staff depending on the needs of the children.
Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2)
There are 2 classes in Year 1 and 3 classes in Year 2. Children always have playtimes in the large playground. Each class has a qualified teacher and a part time assistant as a minimum, although often there are more staff depending on the needs of the children.
