Pupil Premium Grant
In 2011 the government introduced the pupil premium grant. This is a sum of money given to schools each year by the government to improve the progress and attainment of disadvantaged children. Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as their peers. School leaders to decide how to spend the pupil premium because they are best placed to assess their pupils’ needs. Each year we publish information about how we have spent the previous year’s funding with a review of its impact, and information about how we are intending to spend future funding.
